Required Academic Credentials from Non-U.S. Institutions
Applicants who have studied in the following countries or regions should be informed of and meet the minimum requirements to be eligible for admission consideration. The Rackham Graduate School requires the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor’s degree. The assessment of a degree from an international institution is based upon the characteristics of a national system of education, the type of institution, the accreditation/recognition, the level of study and number of years of post-secondary study.

Australia
Completion of a four-year Bachelor’s Honours degree or a Master’s degree following a three-year Bachelor’s.
Documents Required
You are required to mail 1 set of official final transcripts and diplomas to the Rackham Graduate School. Official documents must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
Canada
Three-year Bachelor’s degree following the DEC from Quebec; a four-year Bachelor’s degree from all other provinces.

You are required to mail 1 set of official final transcripts with the degree posted to the Rackham Graduate School. Official documents must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
Central, Eastern and Western Europe (excluding France and Germany)
University degree requiring a minimum of four-years of study.
Documents Required
You are required to mail 1 set of official academic records to the Rackham Graduate School. This set must include two versions of your official, final transcripts and diplomas; one version must be in the native language and one version must be an official English translation. Official documents must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
Central and South America
University degree requiring a minimum of four-years of study.

China
University degree requiring a minimum of four-years of study.
Documents Required
You are required to mail 1 set of official academic records to the Rackham Graduate School. This set must include two versions of your official, final transcript, Certificates of Graduation, and Degree Certificates; one version must be in Chinese and one version must be an official English translation. Official documents must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
France
Completion of a University Maitrise or completion of the first two-years of the Diplome d’Ingenieur from a Grandes Ecoles.
Documents Required
You are required to mail 1 set of official academic records to the Rackham Graduate School. This set must include two versions of your official, final transcripts and diplomas; one version must be in the native language and one version must be an official English translation. Official documents must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
Germany
The Diplom, Magister Artium or Staatsexamen (The vordiplom and zwischenpruefung are not considered adequate preparation for graduate study at the University of Michigan).

Hong Kong, Singapore
Completion of a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree.
Documents Required
You are required to mail 1 set of official final transcripts and diplomas to the Rackham Graduate School. Official documents must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal
Completion of a University four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Medicine; a Master’s degree in all other fields. (A three-year Bachelor’s degree is not considered adequate preparation for graduate study at the University of Michigan).
Documents Required
You are required to mail 1 set of official final mark sheets from all semesters and diplomas indicating conferral of your bachelor’s degree to the Rackham Graduate School. Provisional Certificates are not acceptable. Official documents must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
Middle East and North Africa
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree requiring a minimum of four-years of university study.
Documents Required
You are required to mail 1 set of official academic records to the Rackham Graduate School. This set must include two versions of your official, final transcripts and diplomas; one version must be in the native language and one version must be an official English translation. Official documents must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
Other Asian Countries (excluding China, Hong Kong and Singapore)
University or college degree requiring a minimum of four- years of study.

Scotland
Completion of a first degree requiring a minimum of four-years of study.

You are required to mail 1 set of official final transcripts and diplomas to the Rackham Graduate School. Official documents must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
United Kingdom (Excluding Scotland)
Completion of a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree.
Documents Required
You are required to mail 1 set of official final transcripts and diplomas to the Rackham Graduate School. Official documents must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
European Higher Education Area
Applicants whose educational experience includes a Bachelor’s, Master’s or a Ph.D. degree based on the three-cycle structure will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility.
Documents Required
You are required to mail 1 set of official diploma supplements, official academic records/transcripts and diplomas in the native language and official translations of all documents to the Rackham Graduate School. If you attended more than one institution to complete degree requirements, (example: ERASMUS/exchange program), you must submit official academic records from all institutions where you completed coursework toward the degree. Submit the Academic Records/Transcript Submission Form with your official academic records/transcripts. You must include the diploma supplement when submitting your official transcripts and diploma.
