Review the Department Information Guide
To obtain Graduate Program:
Test scores must be sent by the testing agency and must arrive at U-M prior to the graduate program's deadline date. Navigate to the graduate program's website for details on what tests are required.
Review the Rackham Graduate School website
To obtain Rackham:
Review these sites carefully. Following these directions will help ensure that your application will be processed and reviewed in a timely manner.
What are the benefits of registering for an identification number?
If your program's deadline date is within 7-10 days and you have not received a U-M ID#, submit your official academic records/transcripts to Rackham with your date of birth and the name of the program to which you are applying. You do not need to wait to receive your U-M ID# to apply by your program's deadline date.
The U-M# is not required to submit the online application, however it is helpful in expediting the process.
You will receive two e-mails after you register.
Submit the application 2-3 weeks before the graduate program's deadline date. Early submission of your application is the best way to avoid unnecessary delays.
Dial-up connections are not the best method for working on the application. Users may experience trouble uploading required documents.
You will receive an e-mail after you apply acknowledging that you have created an account and started the application. This will be sent to you shortly after logging in. This e-mail provides a link back to the online application for future reference.
You will receive three e-mails from Rackham after you submit the application.
You will be able to review your application status in Wolverine Access under New & Prospective Student Business after the Rackham Graduate School sends the third e-mail notification that directs you to this system.

Notification: The University of Michigan Information Technology Central Services office (ITCS) will send you an e-mail giving you a "one-time identifier." You will also be given the internet address of a web page where you will use your one-time identifier, U-M ID number, and date of birth to get your Uniqname and password. At this point, the Basic Computing Package (BCP) is set up for you.
