Hours
The Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies is open Monday-Friday 8:00am - 9:00pm. The building is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
The Building is also closed on the following days throughout the year:
- Thanksgiving [Thursday] and the following Friday
- Christmas Day through New Year's Day (Dec. 25 - Jan. 1)
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day (July 4)
- Labor Day
About the Rackham Building
The historic Rackham Building at the northern edge of Central Campus is the heart of graduate education at the University of Michigan. First opened in June 1938 and extensively renovated in 2000-2003, the Rackham Building houses the administrative offices of the graduate school.
Our Facilities and Services
To request space for your event, please e-mail the Facilities Office at or call (734) 764-8572. In your message, please mention the dates you are inquiring about and your telephone number. Once we receive your message, we will contact you by telephone to complete the reservation; all requests will be responded to in the order in which they are received.

UM Wireless Network at Rackham
The UM Wireless Network is available to anyone who has a valid University of Michigan uniqname and umich password. The network is available in designated areas of the second floor and the fourth floor of the Rackham Building. Information Technology Central Services provides easy instructions to get started.
