Professional Etiquette in a Social Setting with Alcohol

With a number of recruiting and formal events that serve alcohol, there is a growing importance on appropriate etiquette to be observed in this regard. This workshop is presented in association with a representative from Mélange, a bistro wine bar on Main Street, and University Health Services (UHS) and covers a broad array of topics ranging from etiquette in a setting with alcohol to safety and legal issues related to alcohol in the U.S. and particularly in Ann Arbor. Some of the questions that will be discussed in this workshop are:

*** How do you order drinks, buy a round and tip in a formal setting with alcohol?

*** What is an optimal drinking level and appropriate social conduct, particularly in a professional setting?

*** What are your options for drinks including wines, cocktails, soda and non-alcoholic beverages and what are their relative alcohol levels?

*** What are the safety and legal issues related to alcohol in the U.S. and in Ann Arbor which may differ widely from the law in other countries and states?

This workshop is part of the Cross-Cultural Adjustment Series of four workshops. Please feel free to bring your questions and concerns to the any of these discussions.
