Do You Know What Your Student Fee Covers?

While you are an enrolled student, part of the fees you pay in addition to tuition cover services on campus.

Recreational Facilities

Access to the Department of Recreational Sports facilities – Central Campus Recreational Building (CCRB), North Campus Recreational Building (NCRB), and Intramural Sports Building (IMSB) – is granted to students who are enrolled in classes for the current term or semester and have paid tuition and student fees.

New for 2006/2007 is the Northwood Family Pass:

  • The pass is valid for use at the North Campus Recreation Building from 7am - 2pm, Monday - Sunday
  • The cost for the pass will be $30 (trial/30 days), $60 (blue/4 month pass at $15 per month), $120 (gold/12 month pass at $10 per month)
  • Northwood residents will need to show their University Housing contract for proof of residency to be eligible for the pass
  • Children 12 years and under will be included in the pass. The Weight Room Policy and Exercise Room Policy will be enforced. Children 12 years and under will be able to use the pool without a fee.

Students who will not be enrolled in the spring and/or summer terms but who were enrolled in the winter semester may purchase a continuing student membership to access the facilities during the term(s) in which they are not enrolled in classes.

Memberships may be purchased at any of our business offices during business hours. Fee information is available below.

University Health Service (UHS)

Students pay no additional fees for:

  • Clinic visits (e.g. medical clinics, gynecology, specialty clinics, nurse visits, etc.)
  • Eye care for medical problems (does not include routine eye exams, glasses, contact lenses)
  • Health education
  • Nutrition counseling
  • Physical therapy
  • Radiology
  • Most laboratory tests
  • Advice by telephone

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS services are free, confidential, and available to currently enrolled students. Services include: brief counseling for individuals, couples and groups; consultation to students, faculty, staff, and parents; assistance with referrals to community resources; and crisis interventions.

Student Legal Services (SLS)

Student Legal Services provides free legal advice to students, mainly, but not limited to, landlord-tenant disputes. Questions should be directed to the SLS Office, 3409 Michigan Union, (734) 763-9920.
