Programs
Mentoring Program
First-year STEM Ph.D. students are invited to receive mentoring from advanced AGEP graduate students. The goal of the program is to increase student retention by assisting new AGEP students to adjust successfully to graduate school.
Frequent Flyer Program
The Frequent Flyer Program awards “miles” to students engaged in professional development activities, such as attending conferences, achieving candidacy, mentoring students, and presenting papers. Frequent Flyers can log on to the Frequent Flyer website to record their mileage and submit supporting documents. At the end of the semester, they earn a cash award equal to 10ยข per mile of travel and are also eligible for awards based on their total mileage at the end of the year. Visit the Frequent Flyer Program website.
Professional Development
MAA develops and presents its own conferences, workshops, seminars and forums for professional development, as well as providing support for students to attend and present at local, regional and national conferences. Check your e-mail and the Michigan AGEP CTools page for updates and announcements regarding professional development opportunities.
AGEP Advocates Program
Each Program chair in designated AGEP academic programs appoints a faculty member to serve as an AGEP Advocate. The Advocate is an information source and informal mentor for AGEP students who wish to participate.
AGEP Mini-grants
Designed to support activities directly related to the completion of the graduate student’s degree and the pursuit of a career in the professoriate, these funds pay for costs that are not otherwise covered through one of Rackham’s other programs. More information and application materials are provided on the AGEP CTools website under “Resources.”
Michigan AGEP Scholars Seminar Series
The Michigan AGEP Scholars Seminar Series is a monthly student-organized series of STEM and SBE graduate student presentations aimed at fostering collaboration and the diversification of interdisciplinary knowledge. Seminars are open to all graduate students looking to expand their expertise and engage with their peers in an informal environment.
