Fellow Responsibilities
SROP fellows are expected to pursue substantive research projects over the course of the program. They are required to make a full-time commitment to their research (number of lab, library, or research hours vary by project, discipline, and faculty but may range from 30-40 hours per week). In addition, full and active participation in mandatory weekly meetings, seminars and events is required.
A Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Preparation Class offered by Kaplan is optional. Should a student elect to take arranged GRE Preparation Class, attendance at all sessions will also be considered mandatory.
Participants will give a poster presentation of their work at a U-M symposium near the completion of the program in July. In addition, there will be numerous opportunities to network and socialized with faculty, students, and staff at sponsored events through the summer including a faculty-student welcome event and a final reception.
