Timeline for Planning for the Continuous Enrollment Policy
This timeline lists important milestones that may guide expectations regarding when information will become available, when policies will be formulated, and when final policies and procedures will be announced.
September 2009 to September 2010
- Early September 2009
- Each School and College will complete a funding plan for support of tuition for Ph.D. students who are making satisfactory progress to degree but who would not be registered under current policies.
- Sept-Dec 2009
- Each School and College provides information about its funding plan to faculty in departments and graduate programs within the unit; individual graduate programs will devise their own plans for identifying students who need support and for distributing that support. These plans will be shared with students in writing before the end of the Fall term.
- Fall 2009
- At one of their Fall meetings, the Regents will receive an informal briefing about the Continuous Enrollment policy.
- Winter 2010
- Leave of absence policies and policies governing the allocation of tuition-only fellowships will be announced so that students may begin planning for fall.
- Winter 2010 and Spring/Summer 2010
- Training will be provided for staff who work with graduate students to equip them to assist students. Rackham, the Registrar, MAIS, the International Center, the Office of Financial Aid and other groups will collaborate to provide this training.
- June 2010
- Regents set rates for candidacy tuition for Rackham students at the same time that all tuition rates are set in the University. The reduced candidacy tuition necessary for the implementation of the Continuous Enrollment policy will not be approved before the Regents’ meeting in June.
- September 2010
- At the beginning of the Fall Term, the Continuous Enrollment policy will take effect if all conditions for the implementation of the policy are satisfied.
