Alumni gifts have a big impact on what Rackham can do to support graduate students. In 2016:

  • 2,858 gifts were given to support Rackham graduate students
  • 84% of donations were from Rackham alumni
  • 1,550 gifts were of $100 or more
  • 169 gifts were of $1,000 or more

Announcing the Winners of the 2017 Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Awards

Through the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Awards, Rackham recognizes young scholars who have been nominated by their program for teaching excellence. Winners of this award demonstrate superb skill in teaching, mentoring and advising. They bring creativity, inspirational commitment and intellectual excitement to the classroom, discussion section, or teaching lab, and communicate this passion with their undergraduate students.

Finding Reflection Time as a Ph.D. Student – Dogsledding Edition

As Ph.D. students, we tend to have full work schedules and large writing projects to work on during every minute we don’t spend in meetings, on conference calls, running experiments, teaching, or presenting our research at conferences. It can be difficult to find adequate time and space for reflection, which is not only essential to research, but to learning and personal growth.
