An Exhibit of Contemporary Artwork in All Media by Michigan Artists

March 26, 2009 thru June 1, 2009
4th floor, Rackham Graduate School

A beautiful, architectural gem deserves and welcomes fine art. The Rackham Graduate School community has often expressed an interest and imagined the possibilities of exhibiting art at appropriate sites throughout the building. Our first exhibit brings front and center contemporary artworks created by artists living and working in Michigan. Some of these artists have exhibited nationally, some hold academic appointments, many have earned MFAs and a few are self-taught. The exhibit provides an opportunity to those already acquainted with the visual arts to enjoy examples of fine work in their favorite medium and style. Visitors and staff eager to discover what captures their eye, heart and mind will find in "The Language of Art" an excellent introduction to medium, style and subject matter.

The artworks on display have been carefully selected by the River Gallery of Chelsea, Michigan to serve as outstanding examples of oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pastel, fiber, charcoal, prints, photographs, collage, mixed media, and re-cycled material. Style and subject matter is diverse and the exhibit travels the gamut from traditional landscape to collage to abstracted re-cycled x-ray film!

Brochures and an online guide will soon be available providing detailed information and images about the works on display. We invite you to join us in our salute to the visual arts and Michigan artists.
