Rackham Graduate School has proven to be a place that generates an atmosphere of camaraderie and a strong sense of caring among its employees. Rackham supports the values of the University's Human Resources and Affirmative Action Office; and, is an active participant in multicultural initiatives. For example, a family sensitive approach is practiced when applying University leave polices and procedures. Managers implement an open door policy regarding personnel issues or concerns. Staff are encouraged to attend University events, such as, MLK Day activities, and the Women of Color Career Conference.
As an employer, the Graduate School recognizes and places high value and on its employees and the contributions they make towards the mission of the Graduate School. Management encourages and supports personal and professional development by hosting speakers to address staff on several topics of interest including, stress management, customer service, how to handle violence in the workplace, the best way to prepare for retirement and how to get and stay out of debt.
There are also opportunities for staff to take advantage of the University's career development resources: Human Resources and Development. Employees are encouraged to participate on several committees and work groups that generate new ideas, and discussions on how to improve or enhance the workplace.
