Mailing Paper Transcripts or Submitting E-Transcripts to Rackham
Each transcript/academic record must include your full name, U-M ID number or date of birth to match your document to your application.
E-Transcript Option
This method saves you time, effort and the expense of mailing the transcript/academic record that is required during the initial processing and review of your application.
An official transcript may be sent electronically by the Registrar or Recorder of Records using the institution’s e-mail system or electronic system to Rackham at rack-etranscripts@umich.edu.
- The name and title of the Registrar must appear on the transcript.
- A transcript /academic record:
- sent by the Registrar, through their e-mail system, must be submitted in PDF format.
- presented in a language other than English, must include an English translation provided by your institution.
- received from a personal e-mail address will not be accepted.
- If your Registrar requires a Rackham Graduate School address, use the Mail Option address indicated below.
A partial list of institutions that provide official electronic transcript service is:
- Cornell University
- Duke University
- Indiana University
- Michigan State University
- Pennsylvania State University
- Stanford University
- University of Chicago
- University of Illinois
- University of North Carolina-Wilmington
If the e-transcript from your school does not provide:
- a partial birth date AND
- a space to provide your University of Michigan ID number (U-M ID)
Send an e-mail to etranscriptmatch@umich.edu after your Registrar confirms that your e-transcript has been delivered. In the e-mail provide your:
- full name, as it appears on the e-transcript
- name of the institution (ex: University of Chicago)
- U-M ID number or full birth date
You will receive an auto-reply confirming receipt of this information.
Mail Option
Submit the Transcripts/Academic Records Submission Form when you submit your official transcripts/academic records by mail.
