When do I use the Change of Status application versus the Readmission application?

Change of Status Application

For Students in the Graduate School whose last term of enrollment is less than one year ago:

You must fill out the Change of Status application if your last term of enrollment (registration) is less than one year ago (12 months) and you are interested in changing from:

  • Rackham student in the PIBS program seeking to change to a Rackham doctoral program of specialization
  • Currently enrolled in a Rackham Ph.D. program seeking to discontinue the Ph.D. program and change to a Rackham master’s program in the same department
  • Currently enrolled in a Student-Initiated Degree program seeking to change to a single Ph.D. program in one of my current areas of specialization

Readmission Application

For Applicants Who Have Previously Received A Rackham Degree (alumni) or Have Taken Classes Through Rackham Programs (Including Guests, CIC, MIGS, and Unclassified Students):

You must fill out the Readmission Application if you were enrolled (registered) in the Rackham Graduate School but have been absent from it for one or more years (12 or more months).

Readmission is dependent upon the approval of the graduate program and upon the availability of space and facilities for the term in which readmission is requested. Before readmission can be finalized for international students, proof of adequate funding is required in order to obtain the appropriate visa documents.
