How does the application process work for an applicant seeking Guest Status?

The Prospective Applicant

Reviews the Rackham Graduate School website.
Review these sites carefully. Failure to follow the directions will result in a delay or your application not being considered.
The Prospective Applicant
Registers their personal and academic background information with Rackham by registering as a Future Grad Student.
The Benefit of Registering?
- You’ll be assigned a University of Michigan ID number. This is your first official connection to the University of Michigan.
- You will receive your University of Michigan ID number approximately 10 business days after you register as a Future Rackham Graduate Student.
- Processing of application & application document occurs more quickly. Indicating your University of Michigan ID on your application and application documents allows your records to be matched and processed more quickly!
The Prospective Applicant
- Submits application and other required materials.
The Rackham Graduate School
- Receives the application.
- CIC & MIGS applicants receive an e-mail acknowledging receipt of the application.
- CIC & MIGS applicants are directed to the Wolverine Access Online Verification site to verify data submitted and update their address, phone number and e-mail address as necessary.
The Graduate Program
- Receives the application.
- Receives and reviews the materials submitted by the applicant.
- Makes a decision to recommend or deny admission.
- Informs Rackham of the decision.
The Rackham Graduate School
- Reviews the recommendations of admission received from the graduate program.
- Communicates with the applicant, by e-mail, as necessary during the review process.
- Certifies and processes the admission recommendation.
- Notifies the applicant, by e-mail, of the admission.
- Directs the applicant to review the online pre-enrollment information
The Admitted Applicant
- Views the pre-enrollment information on the Rackham Graduate School website.
University of Michigan
- Sends the Computer Access information by e-mail to applicants who have accepted the offer of admission.
As soon as new incoming students have “matriculated,” they receive a letter giving them a “one-time identifier.” The new students can then use Wolverine Access to get to a web page where they use their “one-time identifier,” U-M ID number, and date of birth to get their uniqname and password. At that point, the Basic Computing Package (BCP) is set up for them.
The Admitted & Matriculated Applicant:
- Receives the Uniqname/Computer Access e-mail. Follows the steps to create a Uniqname and establish Computer Access.
- Begins the process of registering for classes based on graduate program instructions.
