Karryll is a Michigan native and spent most of her life in Ann Arbor. For her undergraduate studies she attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, NC where she majored in Psychology and minored in Criminal Justice. She is currently investigating what factors influence youth leadership and community engagement and whether or not these behaviors lead to prosocial behavior among African American youth. Karryll will complete her Ph.D. in 2013.
