Jeffrey Lloyd

Ph.D. in Comparative Literature
Predoctoral Fellowship

Jeffrey was born in Sydney, Australia and came to the United States in 1999 to do his B.A. in literature at Yale. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the department of comparative literature and plans to complete his degree in 2010. His dissertation, entitled Writing on Music, Writing as Music: A Musical Dialogue at the turn of the Nineteenth-Century, explores intersections between aesthetic, literary, and journalistic writings on music and language within early nineteenth-century British and Germanic contexts. He is particularly interested in the material and textual forms by which musical ideas, experiences, and opinions are shared, and the kind of interpersonal work that their circulation accomplishes.
