    Rackham wishes to welcome our students back from break with a professional development and alumni networking event. At Winter Welcome Back, you can sign up to receive free business cards, get professional head shots taken, attend workshops with The Career Center, and network with alumni from diverse fields and career paths. Food will be provided.

    Grab some coffee and a bagel and meet the new Academic Program Managers for Rackham graduate student programs. Laura Schram, as the Director of Professional and Academic Development, and Emma Flores-Scott, as the Director of Recruitment and Engagement, will be introducing the new members of their teams who will be running student engagement, career exploration, and recruitment activities for Rackham.

    Are you a Ph.D. student that is interested in maximizing your job search, gaining experience, or would like to enhance your professional brand through an additional online resource? If so, then the University Career Center (UCC) Handshake appointments are a great resource for you. Come meet with UCC staff to learn more about how to effectively use Handshake to meet you career goals.

    In this workshop you will work with a skilled career coach on translating your CV into a resume. You will also learn the difference between CVs and resumes from an employer's perspective. Participants are encouraged to bring a draft CV and/or resume (perfection not required or expected!) to this working meeting, and a laptop, if possible. Lunch will be provided.

  • Jan 25 2017 - 11:30am to 1:00pm

    This workshop will provide participants with strategies to develop a consistent writing plan. We will discuss the value of daily writing in small increments to increase writing productivity and publications. We provide tools to assist participants with writing and discuss writing resources available to students. Participants will leave the workshop with a writing plan that includes accountability.

If so, the PhriDay Meet-Ups are a great place for you to connect with fellow doctoral students, as well as Rackham and University Career Center staff who support students in their academic and professional development.
