I have the pleasure of serving on the campus committee that plans the University of Michigan’s Dr. Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium. The Committee is comprised of approximately 40 U-M faculty, students, and staff representing academic units and student organizations across campus. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the MLK Symposium. The University has received acclaim over the years for presenting the most events at any large public university that focus on the historical and contemporary issues of race, social justice, class and diversity.
The Symposium’s Opening Program will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Hill Auditorium. The keynote address will be given by Michele Norris, award-winning journalist with more than two decades of experience and host of NPR’s newsmagazine All Things Considered, public radio’s longest-running national program, along with Robert Siegel and Melissa Block.
Program books will be available at Hill on the day of the event.
