Who is Eligible to Participate in University Graduate Exercises and Spring Commencement?

University Graduate Exercises University Graduate Exercises will be held on Friday, April 27th at 9:30 a.m. in Hill Auditorium. Ph.D. and D.M.A. recipients who completed all requirements by March 2nd may participate in University Graduate Exercises. Ph.D. and D.M.A. recipients who completed all requirements in a previous term (Fall 2011 or before) may also participate. In a couple of weeks, an email will be sent to those who previously stated that they planned to attend. The email will direct you to a website so that you can formally RSVP. Are you planning to defend your dissertation soon? Uncertain about completing your requirements? You’ll need to get acquainted with our Dissertation Handbook and Abstract and Dissertation Format Guidelines. If the formatting is difficult or you would like assistance creating a template, the Knowledge Navigation Center (KNC) on the 2nd floor of the Graduate Library can help! KNC provides one-on-one assistance free of charge. They accept walk-ins or take appointments for these services. They also provide workshops throughout the year on a variety of related topics. The Post-Defense Meeting

Congratulations! You’ve defended your dissertation and your committee has approved all of your corrections. Now what? The final step is scheduling a post-defense meeting online with Rackham’s Office of Academic Records and Dissertations (OARD). You received a folder at your group pre-defense meeting that had a checklist of the final items needed for submission along with the required documents to complete. All requirements must be completed and brought to your post-defense meeting. Who is Eligible to Participate in Winter Commencement? Ph.D. and D.M.A. recipients who completed all requirements by October 25th may participate. Ph.D. and D.M.A. recipients who previously completed all requirements in a previous term (Summer 2011 or before) may also participate. Remember to R.S.V.P. since those participating will be “hooded” during the ceremony. If you haven’t already received an e-mail asking you to register for commencement, you should shortly.
