Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Tiffany earned a B.A. in Sociology and Ethnic Studies with honors from Brown University. She is an alumni ambassador for the Fulbright Program and an alumni interviewer for Brown University. She has a graduate certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies, is a Ford Protectoral Fellow and Fulbright Fellow (Brazil 2007-2008), and has received other distinguished awards and grants. Her teaching and research interests include: comparative frameworks of race in the Americas, how immigrants from Latin America and the Caribbean adapt to the U.S. racial system, and the impact of immigration on the U.S. racial system. During the 2007-2008 academic year, Tiffany used her Fulbright grant to work on her dissertation project examining the impact of U.S. immigration on Brazilians' racial conceptions in a small town called Governador Valadares.
