Immigration Process for Newly Admitted International Students Outside the U.S.

  • Graduate program notifies Rackham that they have recommended the applicant for admission

  • Applicant can view recommendation of admission in Wolverine Access

  • Rackham e-mails applicant with admission

  • Applicant accepts the offer of admission in Wolverine Access

  • Student provides financial information, passport information, and any dependent information using the Wolverine Access “Document Upload” page

  • Student signs up for eShip Global to receive the I-20 or DS-2019

  • Rackham issues the required I-20 or DS-2019 and mails the document using eShip Global

  • Student gets SEVIS ID number either through Wolverine Access or once paper document arrives

  • Student pays SEVIS fee and makes visa appointment

  • Student attends the visa appointment and makes travel arrangements

  • Student arrives on campus by “reporting date” indicated on the I-20 or DS-2019
